Oh My did we love this place! We went this morning and met "Miss Ali" as Joshua calls her and the kiddos for some fun at at Yellow River Game Ranch and it was a blast!! This was our first time going and what a hit it was...it's only about 15/20 mintures from our house in Stone Mountain tucked away, never knew it was there! It's just a big trail that goes in a big circle of all different animals to feed and pet...You just bring along some carrots, crackers, and apples and you're all set to feed them!...(they also sell it there too for cheap if you don't have any at home!)
The boys were in heaven! Joshua ran ahead of me the whole time screaming "mommy look at this one animal" and then "hurry mommy come come!"..he was hillarious he was so excited!
He absolutely loved the deer which we saw first when we walked out on the trail..they were so sweet and came up and let you pet them...it took him a second to understand they weren't going to trounce on him, and then he was saying "awww I love you dear"..sooo stinkin' cute!
They were so sweet and came right up to us!
Love his face when he laughed so hard when they took the food!
The donkey's were my favorite they were adorable!
Just hanging out, precious.
He LOVED the pigs..they were his very favorite!
His cute little cheekers were so flushed from running around nonstop, he was so excited.
And "come mommy come!" ahead of me the whole time, I couldn't keep up :)
He loved the bunnies so much!
These little one's were so tiny and cute!
He was telling this bunny "I love you, I take you home"...he tried to pick him up to take him with us crack me up!
We absolutely loved Yellow River Game Ranch! It's just a great alternative to Zoo Atlanta because the kiddos can walk the trail and roam and you don't have to worry about losing sight of them or them running off...we strolled through and barely anyone was there so nice...Can't wait to go back soon!
How I didn't know about this park that is 5 minutes from our house is just craziness...So glad my friend told me about this park because Joshua absolutely LOVED it! We headed over there yesterday after nap time, and I will say that this is definitely a new place we will be venturing to a good bit! And she said it's never crowded super plus...(I think a lot of people are clueless it's there like me)..It's at Peachtree Dekalb Airport and sits right next to the runway so you can watch all the airplanes fly overhead!
He was so curious and just roamed checking everything out..he absolutely loved watching the airplanes fly above! I just loved watching his face!
We weren't sure if it was going to rain but it never did...the clouds were so cool!
He and his buddy Matt are so cute playing together..
And the sun came beaming through through the clouds and we got perfect weather, it was so pretty!
So excited we have a great new playplace for the Spring and Summer!...and it was right under my nose the whole time!
This weekend was productive for this fam...and we spent it all outdoors working in the backyard!..we are making over our deck and backyard...we took out the old hot tub we never used on the 2nd tier of the deck and are staining it so we can put in some lounge furniture and also so that Joshua has a place for all his water toys/picnic table....made so much for sense for us, love having all the lounge space now..and we are also putting in the playset in the backyard...the deck has to be stained before i put out my new furniture, and the backyard has to be leveled, bordered and mulched before the playset goes up...so with the sunny weather this weekend the hubby got started and pressure washed the entire deck (took half the day it was so dirty) and cleaned up the backyard..and while daddy did that Joshua was finally able to bust out his water table, he really missed it! He played out there for hours he loves it so much!
Oh we missed the warm sunny weather, we had the best time just sitting out there enjoying it watching little man have a blast..I am so excited our sectional for out there should come in the next few weeks...and my mom and i went to get the fabric for all the outdoor pillows, and some outdoor decor this weekend...it's going to be a little tropical oasis out there when I'm done with it can't wait...this upcoming weekend the hubby my dad and FIL are coming over to get the backyard leveled and bordered...should have the playset up in the next 2 weeks...i cannot wait to have that out there for Joshua to enjoy!...I can already see myself lounging out on the sectional while my boys play in the backyard! Sooo happy this warm weather is here, we're ready to be outside enjoying it every weekend!
I ran into a high school classmate of mine at Hippohopp last week, then again at the park the next day..small world! It was so nice catching up and we have boys about 8 months apart which is great....and she's also a SAHM, and we live like 15 minutes apart, way awesome...I'm so glad we ran into each other or we never would have maybe never hung out, not to mention we seem to always be going in the same circles anyways..we had a great time taking the boys to Catch Air (our first visit) and then Panera for lunch today! And Catch Air is definitely a new place for us for rainy weekdays! Joshua had an absolute blast! It's a great place to let your kiddo roam and not have to worry about them running off if you turn your head...they have a great safety system and door/gate to keep them in! (one thing I wish Hippohopp had)..Joshua loved the big slides and tunnels, and got down and danced on the dance floor too! It's a little drive for us, about 25/30 mintutes, but definitely a new place we'll be adding to our rainy/cold day list!
Living in Atlanta sure has its perks when the warm weather hits!! And now that Joshua is completely self mobile we can pretty much do everything, I'm so excited for this warm weather fun! Here are some of our favorite outdoor places you can find us this spring and summer!
1.) Zoo Atlanta
Oh the zoo is so wonderful for kiddos! We went yesterday and bought a membership now that he is old enough to really understand all the animals (and they are his obsession right now!) The membership is SUCH a deal if you live close enough to go often, it pays for itself in 2 visits for a whole year! I braved the zoo alone and it was actually a breeze! The best time to go is around 2 pm, when the animals are feeding so they're all out for the most part, and the place was empty we loved it! Joshua is obsessed with all things monkey, so we watched them forever he laughed so hard it was hysterical...then after seeing most of the animals we ventured over to the kids zoo for train rides, carousel rides, petting zoo and playground fun! And oh boy did he love riding the train, we rode multiple times! It is just a great place to spend a weekday afternoon (or weekend if you don't mind the crowd) enjoying all the cute animals, strolling under the banboo and just having a blast!
2.) Piedmont Park
You can find us here ALL the time in the spring and summer! Between the water fountains for kids to run through, the playground, feeding the ducks, and the big open fields we spend lots and lots of time here when the warm weather hits. The have a great playground not hear any roads which is nice, so we usually start and here and then head over to feed the ducks and roam the fields and play soccer and frisbee...then when the warm weather is here to stay we hit the play fountains all the time! We also enjoy picnics with daddy during the week, he meets us since his office is right by Piedmont park, we sure love it here!
2.) Botanical Gardens
This is such a fun place to go and enjoy the beautiful scenery and let the little one's explore nature...it's a great place to go the be surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants and has a great place to let the kiddos take in nature with a two acre Children's Garden with giant caterpillars and butterflies, and an amphitheatre, water play area to cool off on a hot day! Oh and yummy food too for a lunch break!
4.) Turner Field
Now that Joshua is completely self mobile we are going to love going to see the Braves a lot! My hubby and I used to go all the time, and I'm excited to start going a lot again! I already bought Joshua his little Braves jersey and hat!..Oh i cant wait to watch my Braves, yummy hot dogs, and family fun at Turner!
5.) Stone Mountain Park
We don't come here a ton, but i am so excited to take Joshua to a laser show and train ride this spring/summer! The laser shows runs from pretty much nightly at 9 pm from march to august...i know it will be late night but so worth it, i know he's going to go crazy for it! They also have great open fields for kids to roam on, and i want to take him on the scenic railroad that takes you around the mountain! I have a feeling now that he's a full blown toddler we will be coming here a lot more this spring and summer!
Oh I'm so excited for warm weather fun with my little man this year! (and daddy on the weekends :)
...Nothing beats outdoor fun in the ATL! :)
I'm a proud wife and mommy...I married my high school sweetheart...I am a stay at home mom and i love my job more than anything...My family is my everything...Life with a toddler is crazy and oh so much fun!
